Magnet Releasing Brings Jason Yu's "Sleep" to Theaters and Digital This September
Magnet Releasing is set to bring one of last year’s top films, Jason Yu’s Sleep, to theaters and digital platforms on September 27th, following a successful festival run. This film, a unique blend of horror and dark comedy, offers a chilling exploration of the supernatural, sleep deprivation, and strained relationships.
Sleep follows newlyweds Hyun-su (Lee Sun-kyun, Parasite) and Soo-jin (Jung Yu-mi) as their domestic bliss is shattered when Hyun-su begins sleep-talking, ominously saying, “Someone’s inside.” From that night on, Hyun-su transforms into someone else each time he sleeps, with no memory of his actions the next morning. Soo-jin, gripped by fear that he might harm himself or their unborn child, becomes consumed by anxiety. Despite seeking treatment, Hyun-su’s condition worsens, leading Soo-jin to believe her child may be in danger.
Directed by Jason Yu, who previously worked with Korean cinema legends Bong Joon-ho and Lee Chang-dong, Sleep had its world premiere at Cannes’ Critics’ Week, where it received critical acclaim.
