Sunnbrella Explores Love, Loss & Euphoria on New Single “nothing forever”

Sunnbrella in a moody, neon-lit studio promoting new single “nothing forever.”
David Zbirka, aka sunnbrella, fuses beauty and distortion in his latest hypnotic single ahead of Gutter Angel.

If you’re not paying attention to sunnbrella yet, now’s the time to plug in and turn it all the way up. With his sophomore album Gutter Angel arriving April 18, London-based producer and sonic mood-bender David Zbirka—aka sunnbrella—just dropped a stunning new single that dives headfirst into the chaos: “nothing forever.”

sunnbrella - nothing forever

Built on a gritty, distorted bassline that sounds like it crawled out of an underground Berlin club, “nothing forever” surges with pounding four-on-the-floor energy, glitchy vocal loops, and synths that shimmer and swarm in waves. Drawing inspiration from 2000s indietronica and the dreamier side of shoegaze, the track is equal parts euphoria and emotional exorcism. It’s dance music for people spiraling, and we mean that as a compliment.

“The song is about the tension—between beauty and decay, connection and detachment,” Zbirka says. “I always try to marry the ugly with the beautiful in my music, and ideally make it danceable as well. What better way to do that than to set it all to a four-to-the-floor kick?”

That marriage of light and dark pulses through every element of the track. The bass threatens to crush you, while the vocal textures—heavily processed and emotionally raw—float like ghosts trying to break through static. It’s intoxicating, unsettling, and kind of beautiful in its brokenness.

“nothing forever” also offers a perfect lens into what to expect from Gutter Angel: a twisted love letter to the blurred lines between connection and collapse, pain and transcendence. This isn’t music designed to sit quietly in the background—this is a sweat-soaked, strobe-lit descent into the void, and sunnbrella is your guide.

Gutter Angel drops April 18 on all streaming platforms and will also be available on limited edition 12” vinyl via Music Website.

“‘Nothing Forever’ is a thumping club banger. It leans a bit more into happy-hop than I usually go for, but it never overwhelms. sunnbrella blends it all together seamlessly.” — Travis Brown, HMU

And stay close—because HMU is about to turn up the volume on everything living in the dark corners of the music world: electric, metal, core, industrial, hip hop, experimental, and everything in between. We’re just getting started.
