With loneliness on the rise, sometimes the best remedy is simply putting yourself out there and meeting new people—but what happens when that goes horribly wrong? Enter writer-director Andrew DeYoung’s Friendship, a dark comedy that turns the awkwardness of adult male bonding into a full-blown social nightmare.
Starring Tim Robinson in his signature brand of painfully uncomfortable humor, alongside Paul Rudd, Kate Mara, and Jack Dylan Grazer, Friendship follows suburban dad Craig, who becomes obsessed with befriending his charismatic new neighbor. What starts as a harmless attempt at connection spirals into chaos, threatening to ruin both of their lives.
Premiering in the U.S. at SXSW 2025 on March 9, Friendship promises a laugh-until-you-cry descent into social disaster before hitting theaters this May.
Check out the official trailer now and prepare for the film that just might prove one thing:
“Men shouldn’t have friends.”
