One of the films we’re most excited to see at SXSW is Mermaid, an over-the-top horror comedy from director Tyler Cornack, starring Johnny Pemberton. This isn’t your typical “man meets fish-woman” romance—Pemberton plays a drug-addicted “Florida Man” who becomes obsessed with a mermaid, leading him down a bizarre and dangerous path. When his secret gets out, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.
The film also features Kevin Nealon, Robert Patrick, Kevin Dunn, Kirk Fox, Tom Arnold, and Avery Potemri as the titular mermaid. Mermaid will make its world premiere at SXSW this weekend, with multiple screenings throughout the week. Stay tuned for our review after the premiere, and in the meantime, check out the trailer!
